JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Zonta Club and Jamestown Rotary Club will be teaming up to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations and 100th birthday of Zonta International.

The Peace Pole is an internationally-recognized symbol of the hopes and dreams of the entire human family, standing vigil in silent prayer for peace on earth. Each Peace Pole bears the message ‘May Peace Prevail on Earth’ in different languages on each of its four or six sides.

The clubs will be meeting at each of these five Peace Pole locations in Jamestown to honor the UN & Zonta International and their dedication to ending violence and bringing peace to the world.

“We will also tell the history and explain the significance of the peace poles located throughout the city,” says Zonta member Pam Phillips.

Rotary Club President Sean Johnson says they’re looking forward to helping celebrate this day.

Johnson says they’ll be meeting at each of those peace poles in Jamestown on October 24th.

You can join the clubs at one of these locations:

1. The rotunda next to the Stutsman County Museum
2. The cupola in Zonta Park
3. The Buffalo Museum, near the entrance
4. The Sensory Garden in the Solein/Denault park
5. The garden in front of the Unruh Sheldon building on the University of Jamestown campus.

The gatherings are planned for 12 PM on Saturday, October 24th.
