JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – University of Jamestown students will once again be going door-to-door in the community to collect non-perishable food items for the local food pantry this month.
Hosted by the University of Jamestown student senate, Junior Amber Domres says they look forward to this food collection event every year.
While the student senators organize the event, Domres says they get participation from different organizations and clubs and “compete” to collect the most food items.
Domres says some of these precautions this year include wearing a mask going door-to-door and collecting the items in a box while social distancing.
Homes are also encouraged to leave their food donations near their front door so students can just pick them up.
Students will be going door-to-door on October 25th from 6 PM to 8 PM. All food collected will be donated to Community Action Region VI.
Last year, students collected more than 2,600 non-perishable food items.
