GRAND FORKS, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Grand Forks Red River and Valley City have played four times this year, and three of those four have gone the distance. Wednesday was the third time as the Roughriders downed the Hi-Liners 3-2 (25-20, 19-25, 25-17, 21-25, 15-10).
Lexi Leroux had a double-double with 12 kills and 23 digs. Four Hi-Liners were in double figures in kills. Peyton Pederson and Sam Hatcher had 11 each and Jadyn Dieterle had 10. Dylann Diegel added 42 assists. Jocey Kriewald had 24 digs to lead the defense.
For the fifth ranked Riders, they were led by Alex Page’s double-double of 14 kills and 18 digs. Ava Swangstue had eight kills and Kaylee Lancaster had seven and a team high 19 digs. Ashlee Welch had a double-double with 32 assists and 10 digs. Ella Fosse had 15 digs for Red River.
Valley City is now 8-11 overall and 6-9 in the Eastern Dakorta Conference. They will be at Fargo Shanley Monday for a key 2-point match with the Deacons. Red River is now 11-2 in the EDC and 13-5 overall
