Medina, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—–The Oakes Tornadoes lost the opening set to Medina-Pingree-Buchanon (MPB), and stormed back for a 3-1 victory, 25-27, 25-17, 25-17, 25-14. The Thunder held there own in the first 3 sets, but the Tornadoes balanced attack prevailed in the end.

Abigail Cox (junior S/OH) led the Tornadoes with 14 kills, 2 stuff blocks, and added 3 service aces. Sadie Hanson (senior S/OH) added 13 kills, a match high 4 service aces and 21 assists. Emma Muggli (sophomore MH) added 10 kills for the Tornadoes. Laikyn Roney (sophomore MB) added 7 kills and tied Hansen and teammate Grace Day (senior OH) with a match high 4 service aces. Oakes recorded 19 service aces in the match.

The Thunder were paced by Allison Thomas (freshman OH) with a match high 15 kills. Lilly Bohl had 17 assists and a match high 4 service aces for MPB.

Oakes improved to 14-1 overall and will host Richland next Monday night in Oakes. The Tornadoes will be the number 1 seed in the upcoming District 5 tournament & will get an opening round bye before playing in the semifinals against the winner of the number four and five seeds.

MPB dropped to 8-6 overall and will host Carrington next Monday night in Pingree before they start District 6 play later next week.
