VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City Hi-Liners ended a three match losing streak Saturday with a straight set win over Fargo South. Tuesday, they made it two wins in a row with a straight set win over Wahpeton, 25-14, 25-10, 25-7.

In the first set, Valley City used an 13-2 run to break open a tie match and take a 21-10 lead on the way to a  25-14 win

Set two was also close early. After a service error by Dylann Diegel to tie the match at 5, Valley City would score the next four points to take a 9-5 lead. The Hi-Liners would expand that lead to 16-8 before Wahpeton would take a time out.  After the service error tied the set at 5, Valley City outscored the Huskies 20-5 the rest of the way for the 25-10 win.

The Hi-Liners were never challenged in the third set. After a tie at 2, Valley City scored four straight points to take a 6-2 lead. The Huskies would score the next two points to make it 6-4. But it was all Valley City after that.  They would score 12 straight points, 11 of those served by Jocey Kriewald. Huskies would get two of the next three points to make 19-6, but Valley City ended the set and the match on a 6-1 run for the 25-7 win.

Lexi Leroux led the way for Valley City with six kills, two aces and nine digs. Peyton Pederson had five kills and four blocks. Jocey Kriewald added two aces and 22 digs. Dylann Diegel added 21 assists. Samantha Hatcher had five kills and two aces. Rachel Beierle had two aces and Haley Thoreson added three blocks.

Valley City improves to 8-10 overall and 6-8 in the Eastern Dakota Conference. Wahpeton falls to 2-14 overall and 0-13 in the conference.
