commission

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County Commission has approved to change some job descriptions and reclassify some positions within the courthouse.

The move comes following the resignation of former Auditor and COO Nicole Meland. Commission Chairman Mark Klose stated that the personnel committee met and discussed these changes.

One of the recommendations included adding some more responsibility to the Deputy Auditor from the Auditor. They would also combine the Recorder and Treasurer position into one.

Klose says with those moves, the personnel committee also made recommendation for paygrade increases for the changed roles.

The commission unanimously approved the motion.

The commission later discussed elections including the closure of the first floor of the courthouse on Election Day November 3rd. Interim Auditor Jessica Alonge says most employees on the first floor will be busy at the Civic Center.

Alonge added that they have their list of workers for the General Election.

Poll workers will also be required to wear masks while manning the polls and conducting absentee work. Alonge says this was a request from a district party chair.

The commission voted to recommend poll workers wear a mask at the polling site.

The county will also be advertising for deputy treasurer after her resignation on Friday, October 16th.
