The Minnesota Corn Growers Association board of directors elected Tim Waibel as its 2020-2021 president. His term began Oct. 1.

From Courtland, Waibel farms corn and soybeans, as well as raises swine. He was elected to the MCGA board in 2012, and had previously served as secretary and treasurer. Waibel also serves on the Market Development Action Team for the National Corn Growers Association. He is married to his wife, Mary, and has five children. Tim and Mary Waibel began farming full-time in 1994, and both currently farm alongside their two sons.

Waibel looks forward to helping farmers not only continue to weather COVID-19 challenges, but also advance the priorities that increase on-farm sustainability and profitability.

“Minnesota’s corn farmers have proven to be a resilient group, and I believe we have some tremendous opportunities in the year ahead,” MCGA President Waibel said. “Our grassroots candidate engagement efforts have elevated the issues most important to us on the farm, and I look forward to continuing that momentum as we advocate for the priorities that greatly benefit our farms and rural communities.”

Waibel will serve as president through Sept. 30. MCGA directors also elected Bryan Biegler, who farms in Lake Wilson, to first vice president, Richard Syverson (Clontarf) to treasurer and Dana Allen-Tully (Eyota) to secretary.
