JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Rotary Club’s motto is Service Above Self.

Rotary Club President Sean Johnson says they have been undertaking several volunteer projects to fulfill that motto. Recently the club was involved in a project to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations.

Johnson says on October 24th, they’re going to host the “Peace Pole Project.”

The Peace Pole is an internationally-recognized symbol of the hopes and dreams of the entire human family, standing vigil in silent prayer for peace on earth. Each Peace Pole bears the message ‘May Peace Prevail on Earth’ in different languages on each of its four or six sides.

There are estimated over 250,000 Peace Poles in every country in the world dedicated as monuments to peace.

Johnson says they’ll be meeting at each of those peace poles in Jamestown on October 24th.
