
VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – It was the first match in 2 weeks for Valley City, and on the other side of the net was the second ranked West Fargo Packers. The Packers won in straight sets 25-22, 25-7, 25-16. The match counted for two points toward the conference standings.
The first set was back and forth with neither team getting more that a two point lead at any one time until the very end. Valley City took its last lead at 21-20, but then West Fargo would score five of the last six points to take the set 25-22.
The Packers picked up where they left off in set 2 jumping out to a 5-0 start. They would keep the lead between 8 and 11 points until the Packers pulled away ending the match on a 9-1 run including seven in a row.
In the third set, it was similar to set one. Early on it was back and forth. The Hi-Liners would have a two point lead at 2-0 and 3-1. The Packers would take their first lead at 6-5. They would have two point leads at 7-5, 8-6, 9-7, 10-8, and 11-9. But the Hi-Liners would comeback and take a 12-11 lead. That would be their last lead of the night. The Packers would go on a 12 point run and win the set 25-16.
The Hi-Liners were led by Jadyn Dieterle with seven kills. Lexi Leroux and Samantha Hatcher each had five. Defensively, the Hi-Liners were led by Jocey Kriewald with 22 digs. Leroux had 11 along with an ace. Olivia Olson had eight digs, Dylann Diegel had seven and 16 assists. Dieterle and Hatcher added five digs. Hatcher also had two blocks.
Erin Binstock totaled 10 kills and seven digs to lead the Packers. Nadia Chwialkowski added 11 kills, while Maddie Waldera posted a game-high 17 digs. Halle Erickson chipped in eight kills and 15 assists.
The Packers have won nine in a row, the last eight have been in straight sets. They are 13-1 in the Eastern Dakota Conference and 15-1 overall. The Hi-Liners fall to 4-5 in the EDC and 4-4 overall.
