JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The James River Humane Society is celebrating both Adopt A Dog Month and Adopt a Black Pet Month this October.
In a study, it’s been found that adoptable dogs that have dark-colored fur and are mixed breed dogs are said to be typically passed over by adopters. The same has been said for cats.
James River Humane Society Board Member Jay Nitschke added that they are continuing to find forever homes for their adoptable animals.
Nitschke says they are grateful to their volunteers who continue to work and clean for the animals. She says you can view their adoptable pets on their website and make an appointment to meet that animal.
Because of the pandemic, the Humane Society has also had issues holding fundraisers to support their service. She says a big help is the Jamestown dealership competition which runs through October.
Nitschke says along with that, they’re currently looking into different fundraiser ideas to help support the shelter.
