JAMESTOWN, N.D. (newdakota.com) – Coach Sara Hegerle and the Blue Jays volleyball team found out yesterday afternoon that they would have Bismarck High coming to town just over 24 hours later.

“We just wanted to keep our schedule live,” said Hegerle on the pregame show. “If there happens to be a couple teams in quarantine for COVID, then we are able to just kind of move our schedule around.”

That’s exactly what happened. Jamestown’s schedule had Turtle Mountain, who cancelled their season, and Bismarck High had St. Mary’s, who just went into quarantine recently.

So the Jays & Demons moved their October 13 matchup to Thursday evening. With limited preparation time, Jamestown defeated Bismarck 3-0 for the second time this season.

It was a nice bounce-back win for Jamestown as the Jays lost two in a row to Century and Mandan headed into Thursday night. Jamestown overpowered Bismarck in the first set, fell behind but roared back in the second set and pulled away late in the third set.

Grace Hegerle led the way with twelve kills and four aces, Ella Roaldson recorded eight kills and Katie Falk notched six.

Next time out for Jamestown is a week from Thursday at home against Minot.
