RUGBY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Panthers scored both of their touchdowns in the first half as they go on to defeat the Cardinals of Carrington 12-8 in Class A Region 2 varsity football action. Rugby improves to 2-3 in the region and 4-3 overall, Carrington drops to 3-2 in the region and 4-3 overall.

The Rugby Panthers scored first with time winding down in the first quarter when QB Brody Schneibel connected with Cole Slaubaugh for a seven yard touchdown pass. Later in the second quarter and only :33 seconds left, Macen Heisler picked off QB Lucas Hendrickson and ran the ball back for a 39-yard pick six and took the lead heading into halftime 12-0. The Cardinals scored their first and only touchdown of the game when Drew Schroeder ran in from 23 yards out for a score in the third quarter.
