JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Central Valley Health (CHV) is encouraging everyone to get vaccinated for the flu early this year.

Influenza vaccines, also known as flu shots or flu jabs, are vaccines that protect against infection by influenza viruses. CVH Unit Administrator Robin Iszler says now is a good time to reach out about getting the flu vaccine.

Iszler says they’ll be notifying parents with a sheet sent home with their children from the schools. Shots will be provided in the schools and dates will be provided for each building. Forms will need to be completed by parents and guardians and sent back to the school.

From there, Iszler says they’ll focus on the elderly population.

Izsler stresses that it’s vitally important you receive your flu vaccine this year.

Iszler says you can receive a flu vaccination from other locations in the area and you should call ahead to make sure they have them available.

Once the vaccine is ready for mass distribution, Iszler says they’ll look to hold a large drive-up event for the public. More details will be released on that at a later date.
