JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Tourism Board met to discuss their new bylaws, review and approve their 2021 budget, and other business on Monday.
Jamestown Tourism Executive Director Searle Swedlund reported that the James River Walter Trail has been installed and completed.
The trail runs all the way through Jamestown and provides a path for kayak and canoe enthusiasts with docks in the river at Klaus & Nickeus parks. The project cost around $19,000 and was funded with grants and donations.
Later, the Downtown Walk of Fame was discussed.
Swedlund says from there, they’ve began to compile a “running list” of historical or important figures to Jamestown.
He added that this was an opportunity to tell a story about Jamestown, providing historical facts or quotes from these recognized figures, both globally and locally.
Swedlund says at this time, they’re going to look for support from the Jamestown Downtown Association and City of Jamestown. He says they’ll also keep adding to the list as time goes on.
