FERGUS FALLS, MINN. (vcsuvikings.com) – Hayley Shanks tied for first place and the VCSU golf teams had four individual Top 10 finishes Sunday at the Spartan Invite.
The 18-hole tournament was played in cool and rainy conditions Sunday at Pebble Lake Golf Course in Fergus Falls, Minn.
Shanks shot an 81 in the women’s tournament, tying for first place after 18 holes. She advanced to a playoff to determine medalist honors, losing out on the second playoff hole. Shanks’ score of 81 was her best collegiate round.
VCSU’s Jocelyn Braunberger carded an 86 on Sunday as she placed 7th overall in the women’s tournament. Ashley McKittrick (13th, 96) and Megan Haugrud (17th, 108) rounded out VCSU’s team score of 371. The Viking women placed third out of three teams at the meet.
On the men’s side, Rory Gentzkow and Brady Warcken each recorded Top 10 finishes for VCSU. Gentzkow shot a 79 on Sunday, finishing in a tie for fourth place. Warcken carded a round of 80 to place eight. Taylor Finlayson (14th, 85) and Jayden Ewoniuk (16th, 88) rounded out VCSU’s team score.
The Viking men shot a team score of 332, placing third out of four men’s teams at the meet.
