JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown United Way kick-off looks a little different this year.
An organization that raises money for different agencies in the area, United Way typically holds a kick-off event that focuses on those agencies that receive funding. Because of social distancing, United Way came up with a creative scavenger hunt that not only highlights those organizations they help, but gets the community involved.
Board Member Becky Kercher says residents who find the rocks can then turn them into Bank Forward in Jamestown for a prize.
United Way Member Cory Arends says anyone can participate in the scavenger hunt, which is every day through October 4th.
Member Penny Steckler added that the campaign kicked off on Monday, September 21st and there are still some rocks that have yet to be found. She says you can go to the Jamestown United Way Facebook page to get the clues.
Kercher added that the goal of the Jamestown United Way this year is $200,000.
She says they’re also welcoming new board members to join United Way.
If you’d like to participate in the scavenger hunt, like the Jamestown United Way Facebook page here to get clues and updates on the United Way. You’re asked to take only one rock and show it at Bank Forward for your prize.
