JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Youth hunting comes into focus this weekend in North Dakota.
Game & Fish Wildlife Biologist Doug Leier says youth deer season opens up at 12 Friday and youth waterfowl Saturday and Sunday. He says this is the time to focus on the young hunters.
Residents who turn age 11, 12 or 13 in 2020 can hunt statewide for antlerless white-tailed deer. Each youth deer hunter must be under direct supervision of an adult. The adult is prohibited from carrying a firearm or bow while accompanying the youth hunter in the field during the youth season.
The youth deer season wraps up Sunday, Sept. 27.
In other Game & Fish news, upland bird numbers continue to improve. While the season doesn’t open up until October 10th, Leier says there’s a lot of good news for hunters.
The pheasant season opens Oct. 10 and continues through Jan. 3, 2021. The two-day youth pheasant hunting weekend, when legally licensed residents and nonresidents ages 15 and younger can hunt statewide, is set for Oct. 3-4.
The grouse and partridge seasons opened Sept. 12 and continues through Jan. 3, 2021.
