JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – SSG Andrew Tanata and SSG Aaron Schmidt have a combined 30 years of experience in the North Dakota Army National Guard.
They’re biggest goal? Give you the best opportunity to succeed.
SSG Tanata says a common misconception about joining the National Guard is being deployed. He says a majority of your service is for the community and state.
Tanata added that nationwide, the guard was focusing their efforts on hurricane and wildfire relief.
Schmidt added to that, saying they have emotional investment because they’re proud to serve this community through the guard.
Schmidt also talked about the education benefits of joining the National Guard, including college tuition being paid for and the potential for a full-time job.
Tanata added that for those not ready to make a commitment to the guard, they offered a program for interested individuals to see a drill weekend and experience part of the guard.
