JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Stutsman County will be looking for a new emergency manager and 911 coordinator in 2021 after Jerry Bergquist made his intentions to retire known.
Bergquist, who has served Stutsman County as the Emergency Manager since 1988, will be looking to retire by either the end of the year or first quarter of 2021.
Meland says Bergquist hasn’t formally submitted his retirement request, but she says they should begin looking at starting the hiring process.
Meland stated she would like to start advertising for Bergquists role, as he essentially filled two positions while serving the county.
Meland says Bergquist’s position is unique, as there is only one other like it in the state.
Bergquist says he along with the Walsh County Emergency Manager are the only two to fill the Emergency Manager and 911 coordinator position in North Dakota.
The county will look to begin advertising for the position as soon as possible on different platforms. The commission unanimously approved to begin advertising for the position.
