VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City scored on offense and defense and Max Fehr and Luke Wendel scored two touchdowns in the first quarter as the Hi-Liners picked up a 76-0 win over Stanley Friday night to pick up their first win of the season.

Fehr started the scoring with a 42 yard touchdown on the first play from scrimmage for the Hi-Liners. He would add the 2-point conversion and Valley City was up 8-0 2:21 into the game.

On the ensuing drive. Luke Wendel picked up a fumble by Jace Wenger and rambled 20 yards for the touchdown. Fehr’s two-point conversion made it 16-0 Hi-Liners with 8:50 remaining in the first quarter.

The Hi-Liners would strike again on their next possession.  Max Fehr would score on a one yard one. The conversion failed to make it 22-0.

Wendel would strike again on the next score for the Hi-Liners with a 35 yard interception return for a touchdown. He would add the two-point conversion to make it 30-0 with 55 seconds remaining in the first quarter.

William Eggert, making his first varsity start at quarterback, scored on a two yard run 43 seconds into the second quarter. Jay Kupitz missed the extra point to make it 36-0 Hi-Liners.

Fehr and Wendel would combine to score three more touchdowns before the end of the first half. Fehr had touchdown runs of 13 and 44 yards and Wendel scored from a yard out. The Hi-Liners led 55-0 at the half.

Fehr would add his fifth touchdown of the game with a 39 yard run with 9:20 to go in the third quarter to make it 62-0. Ethan Miller would scored two fourth quarter touchdowns for Valley City. One came on a 28 yard run 30 seconds into the quarter and a seven yard run with 6:40 remaining.

Max Fehr led the offense with 166 yards rushing on 12 carries. With five touchdowns and two, two-point conversions, the senior accounted for 34 points. Luke Wendel had 58 yards on seven carries with a touchdown. He would add  the two defensive touchdowns. Miller would rush for 64 yards on five carries and two touchdowns late in the game. The Hi-Liners had 311 yards on the ground and 334 total yards for the game.

Jaxson Vachal rushed for 45 yards on nine  carries in the fourth quarter and finished with a team high 43 yards on 15 carries to lead the Blue Jays.
