JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown Public Schools are continuing to work with the challenges presented by COVID-19.

Superintendent Dr. Rob Lech informed the school board Tuesday night that in his 18 years of being a superintendent, he has never spent more time in working on a single item as he’s done with COVID-19.

Dr. Lech says they spend a lot of time answering questions from parents, families, and the public. He says they’re continuing to provide communication as best they can.

Dr. Lech says to help with providing transparent communication, they’ve put together a document for staff that provides “situational definitions” as it relates to positive tests and close contacts. Lech has also created a zoom presentation for families to help answer questions surrounding COVID-19.

Dr. Lech says another added item to the schools was assisting with contact tracing, which became a requirement by the North Dakota Department of Health. Lech says this has been a significant work burden for those conducting the investigations.

Dr. Lech says a vast majority of COVID-19 cases that have been reported have been self-reported to the district.

Dr. Lech shared more information on their contact tracing with the board. You can view the entire school board meeting below for more information.
