JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown BIO Girls raise over $700 for the Jamestown Head Start program with a drive-thru lemonade stand on August 31st.
BIO Girls, which stands for “Beautiful Inside and Out”, is a 12-week program combines life-skills curriculum, mentoring, and physical activity in a positive, inclusive environment and Jamestown is half-way through it’s 5th season.
Jamestown BIO Girls Site Director Cathleen O’Higgins says the as the mental health of our youth is declining, BIO Girls is a need-to-have program – especially in times like these.
“Each season, the program dedicates one of the weekly sessions to serving the local community,” O’Higgins stated. “In the past, we’ve visited nursing homes and helped refresh the outdoor area of the Anne Carlsen Center and TRAC. This year, we held a social-distance, drive-thru lemonade stand. We accepted free-will donations for the Jamestown Head Start program which serves children and families in Jamestown.”
