VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – After struggling to start things on Tuesday night versus Red River before coming back to win, Valley City came out ready to play on Thursday night versus Grand Forks Central. The Hi-Liners won in straight sets 25-10, 25-20, 25-8.
In the first set, the Hi-Liners pulled away with a seven point run and finished the set on a 13-3 run to win 25-10.
The Knights made things interesting in the second set. The Hi-Liners maintained a 5 to six point lead early, then the Knights would go on a 8-4 run to tie the set at 17. Valley City would end the set on an 8-2 run for the 25-20 win.
Set three was all Valley City. The Hi-Liners jumped out to a 8-3 start before the Knights took a timeout. Then that lead expanded to 17-5 before the Hi-Liner put it away 25-8.
Jadyn Dieterle led the way for Valley City with 16 kills. Lexi Leroux had six and Peyton Pederson added five. Dylann Diegel had 22 set assists. As a team, the Hi-Liners had only four service errors and hit on 94 percent of their serves.
Sofie McGee led the Knights with five kills. Lauren Hillman had four and Jasmine Eisenman added three. Madeline Stangl had 10 assists while Paige Carlson chipped in six.
The Hi-Liners, now 2-0 on the season, will host West Fargo Sheyenne on Tuesday night at the Hi-Liner Activity Center with the match scheduled to start around 7pm. The match can be heard on 1490 AM/96.3 FM KOVC and video streamed live at newsdakota.com
