Casselton, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Lisbon Broncos started off the 2020 high school football season with a nice 32 to 6 victory on the road at Central Cass. It was a battle for the Titan Trophy.
The first two drives Lisbon looked like the Broncos were going to continue where they left off in 2019 during the regular season. Getting two rushing touchdowns from Jordan Sours in the 1st quarter. One an 80 yard run while shedding three would be tacklers. Hunter Schultz was able to run for both 2 pt conversions. Lisbon had a 16 to 0 lead at the half. Lisbon scored again in the 3rd quarter with another Sours TD run, his 3rd of the game. The 2 pt. conversion was good again with another run from Schultz. Central Cass was finally able to get on the scoreboard in the 4th quarter on a passing play to Will Ellison. Cutting the lead to 24 to 6. But the Broncos answered back with a 1 yd rushing TD from Schultz with 4:57 remaining in the game. Sours scored the 2 pt. conversion making it 32 to 6.
After the game Lisbon Coach Joe Gerding gave these comments: “overall it was a good first game. Tonight was the first time we have tackled all year.” He went on to say that “he saw a lot of good things but there is a lot of room for improvement. He also said he was pleased with the play of his new offensive line.”
