JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Students will be returning to in-person learning today in the Jamestown Public School District.

The return to in-person learning comes as part of the new Jamestown Public School District Health & Safety plan, which lays out how the district will operate this fall in the pandemic.

Superintendent Dr. Rob Lech says while some operations and protocols will be different, they’re looking to create a learning environment that is as normal as possible.

Dr. Lech added that the differences most parents and students will see, including the encouragement to wear a mask and decreased visitation, are all for the safety of teachers, faculty, and other students.

With school returning as COVID-19 numbers rise in the state, the school district has been facing questions regarding the spread of the coronavirus. Dr. Lech says they have protocols in place if there is a positive case within the district.

Dr. Lech says if a positive case found in the district, it will be up to school building administrators to contact trace.

He says to help with this, there are different plans at each education level to assist with contact tracing if it’s needed.

Dr. Lech says they have created a presentation that will better explain what steps will need to be taken if a positive case is found in the school district. He says that, as well as all other coronavirus related information for the district, can be found at jamestown.k12.nd.us.
