SIOUX CITY, I.A. (jimmiepride.com) – The University of Jamestown volleyball team was picked to finish second in the 2020 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Preseason Coaches’ Poll. UJ received two first place votes in the polling.
Northwestern College, the GPAC regular season champion in 2019 with a record of 16-0 in conference and 32-2 overall, was picked first.
The Jimmies won the GPAC Postseason Tournament and were 14-2 in conference play.
In all, six GPAC teams finished the season ranked or receiving votes (Jamestown 4th, Northwestern 6th, Concordia 14th, College of Saint Mary 23rd, Midland RV, Doane RV).
UJ advanced to the semifinals of the 2019 NAIA National Volleyball Championship for the first time in program history.
Jamestown will open the season on September 5 hosting Mayville State University at 3 p.m. and Valley City State University at 6 p.m.
