JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown will welcome in their new and returning students this weekend.

University of Jamestown President Dr. Polly Peterson states they have been in the planning process since April to make a safe return for students to their campus.

Peterson says students have begun moving in and the remainder will finish moving in this week before classes begin on Monday, August 24th.

Dr. Peterson says they utilized a lot of virtual tours to help with recruitment.

She says students will see different settings in their classrooms, dining room, housing, and activities. Live, face-to-face classrooms will be taking place in nearly all classrooms.

This will allow professors to instruct remotely and students to learn remotely as well.

In housing, Dr. Peterson says they are prepared to house students, which she says is currently full. She says they have precautions in place if students were to get ill while living in the on-campus housing.

Dr. Peterson added that they are also taking every precaution they can when it comes to their co-curricular activities, which a majority of University of Jamestown students come to UJ for.

Dr. Peterson says they’ll also be requiring masks on campus in the hopes of giving their students and staff the best chance of stopping the spread of COVID-19.
