Richard Allan Kust, age 75, passed away peacefully at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND on August 15, 2020. He was born in Jamestown, ND to Philip, Jr. and Magdalena “Mickey” (Bieber) Kust on November 09, 1944. Rick was raised in Minot, ND until returning to Jamestown in early adulthood.

He was employed for Molines Construction, Alfred Larue as a brick tender, and with his Uncle Art at Bieber’s Processing Plant. He went to work at Jamestown Public School in 1980 and stayed until his retirement in 2010.

Rick met and later married Linda Vigen on May 05, 1979. They made their home together and spent many years as loving foster parents before adopting their daughter, Samantha, on May 26, 1989.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing pool, bowling, going out for coffee and playing Bingo with friends, watching Hallmark Christmas movies, and spending time with his family; particularly his grandsons.

Richard is survived by his wife, Linda Kust; his daughter Samantha (Kust) Carlson; his grandsons, Jace and Spencer Carlson; brother, Bill Kust; sister Connie (Jim) Vaugner, all of Jamestown, ND; brother, David (Colleen) Kust of Roseville, CA; several siblings-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by both parents and grandson James “Jac” Carlson.

Memorial Service: 2:00PM, Friday, August 21, 2020 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown with Pastor Lucas Holstein officiating.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery.
