JAMESTOWN, N.D. (GPHA) – There are new federal resources coming out and new state services such as Rent Bridge.
Great Plains Housing Authority (GPHA) Executive Director David Klein states, “the complex challenges of COVID-19, school resuming, unemployment, and community changes has many households with uncertainty.
Klein adds, “Renters and landlords should not wait for an eviction notice to look for other options. Some local housing authorities have rental assistance or know of complexes with available assistance”
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, HUD, released tools to help landlords and tenants impacted by COVID-19. The tools include on the engage At-Risk Tenants to avoid evictions and repayment plans. https://files.
The North Dakota COVID Emergency Rent Bridge can provide temporary rental assistance to eligible renters who are experiencing a loss of household income due to COVID-19. Renters can get more information or apply by calling 701-328-1907 or contacting the local Community Action Agency (CAA) http://nd.gov/dhs/info/
ND residents can still file for unemployment benefits as an individual by calling 701-328-4995. The process does involve completing forms online. Filing unemployment claims and finding employment opportunities are available through JobService online at http://jobsnd.com.
Great Plains Food Bank is helping many communities through The Mobile Food Pantry providing fresh vegetables, fruits, shelf-stable items, meat, bakery items, boxed goods and much more to communities in need. Distributions are set up as a drive-through where clients are able to stay in their cars and items are placed directly inside their vehicle. All in need of food assistance are welcome to come and receive food at no cost! A short intake form is filled out onsite; no pre-registration or referrals required.
