MINOT, N.D. (Newsdakota.com) – Earlier this week LaMoure Babe Ruth won a state championship in Kindred.

Five days later LaMoure’s Independent team won a championship of their own in Minot with a 7-0 shutout win over Kidder County.

LaMoure grabbed an early lead Sunday night from Kidder County’s starting pitcher Jayden Rath. The game began with a walk to Alex Klever and then an RBI triple from Jace Hanson. Corban Potts followed with a ground out that scored Hanson, and it was quickly 2-0.

The lead ballooned to five after three innings. Mac Bierman delivered his first of three run scoring singles, and starting pitcher Rory Gentzkow drove in a pair of runs on a single of his own.

Gentzkow, who was named player of the game at Corbett Field, did a whole lot more than just a two-run single. He rolled out a complete game shutout allowing just three hits and a pair of walks in a dominant win.

He got plenty of run support as well from a robust, balanced lineup. All nine batters reached base safely and off the bench, birthday boy Weston Klein delivered a single in the 7th inning. A 7-0 lead carried into the bottom of the 7th and Gentzkow sent Kidder Co. down 1-2-3. Here’s how the final out sounded.

A perfect week for LaMoure baseball was capped off Sunday night. Alex Klever coached the Babe Ruth team and played on the Indie team. He took some time to reflect on what this means for LaMoure baseball after the win.

Congratulations to Kidder County on a 2nd place finish and a couple of stressful, exhilirating wins, and a big congratulations to 2020 State Champions LaMoure!
