Fargo, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – In a press release this afternoon the Ag Central Radio Network has learned that Dennis Haugen has resigned as the NDGGA President and member of the board directors. According to the statement from the NDGGA, his resignation was accepted in light of recent comments Haugen made on Facebook. It was also announced that Tom Bernhardt would be taking over as president.
On Wednesday’s edition of Farm Talk with Mick Kjar, Haugen announced that he would be stepping down from his leadership role to spend more time with his farm and ag business. But did not mention his Facebook comments.
Here is the statement from the NDGGA:
The North Dakota Grain Growers Association has accepted Dennis Haugen’s resignation from the organization in light of recent comments posted on Facebook. Effective immediately, Dennis will be vacating his roles as NDGGA president and member of the board of directors. Tom Bernhardt will be taking over as president.
Over the years, Dennis has been a steadfast advocate for North Dakota agriculture, and we hope his present actions will not overshadow his past achievements. However, the NDGGA cannot condone aggressive or
politically-biased comments made online or otherwise. The NDGGA is a non-partisan organization that represents all North Dakota farmers and promotes policies based on positive impact not party interests. We remain committed to providing this representation on both state and federal levels and working to ensure production agriculture remains a profitable endeavor in our state.
