JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Two sites that have been selected in Stutsman County for FEMA funding will be bid out for work.
The Stutsman County Commission heard the latest regarding two sites identified by FEMA to be funded for improvements. Stutsman County Auditor Nicole Meland says these sites are located west of Cleveland.
Commissioner Denny Ova reports that roads in the township had already been raised about four times since earlier flooding in the county.
The commission unanimously approved to bid both projects.
In other county business, discussion on a polling location and hours were discussed. Meland says planning has already begun on planning for the November elections.
Meland says they will be meeting with officials of the Jamestown Civic Center to figure out a layout. She reports that there are around 5,000 absentee applications ready to be mailed out.
She says they are expecting a big voter turnout because it is a presidential election year.
Meland added there may be extra cost to keep voters safe while allowing a polling location this November. She says because of backlash in not having a physical polling locations for the June elections, it would be “too political” not to have a physical location available to voters.
Absentee ballots will begin 40 days before the election. All precincts will be eligible to early vote beginning in October. November 3rd is the planned election day with the Jamestown Civic Center being the only physical polling location.
The commission unanimously approved.
