WASHINGTON, D.C. (Prairie Public Radio) – Negotiations continue on Capitol Hill over what will be in the next coronavirus stimulus package – and its price tag.
House Democrats have proposed a $3 trillion package. Senate Republicans are proposing a $1 trillion package. The GOP plan would end the extra $600 unemployment benefit, and replace is with a $200 benefits, while the Democrats want to keep $600.
Appearing on Fox Business this morning, North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer said that benefit needs to be less than $600.
Cramer says the Senate package also includes some incentives for re-opening schools.
Cramer says the House leadership has indicated it wants to continue negotiations on a final package, even though the House is scheduled to be in recess next week.
