VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The City of Valley City is in the process of hiring a City Engineer and restructuring city job responsibilities between two new positions following the announcement of the retirement of City Building Inspector Dave Andersen.
The closing date for prospective candidates passed earlier this month. Now the city is in the process of finalizing their selection of City Engineer according to City Human Resources Director Carl Martineck.
He said at this time the city has not renewed its contract with the engineering firm of KLJ while candidates for an in-house engineer are evaluated. Martineck said the new City Engineer would also be the Building Inspector as well as the Planning & Zoning and Flood Plan Administrator.
Earlier this month, the city commission approved the hiring of Lance Coit to fill a newly created Assistant Fire Chief position. In addition to his regular duties, Coit will manage a low-cost fire extinguish inspection program for the City as well as receive nuisance and property maintenance complaints which were previously handled by the Building Inspector. Dave Andersen is retiring at the end of the week.
