JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Over 180 lakes across North Dakota were stocked with a record 12 million walleye fingerlings through the state Game & Fish Department.

Jerry Weigel is the fisheries product and development supervisor with Game and Fish. He tells Prairie Public Radio that there’s a lot more water on the state’s landscape.

Game & Fish Wildlife Biologist Doug leier says Jamestown Reservoir was one of the many waters receiving some of the record stock.

Leier added that it’ll take some time before the effect of the fingerlings will be felt.

You can view how many fingerlings were stocked in each body of water here.

Along those lines, Leier is reminding anglers that there is a daily limit for the number of fish you can catch.

Leier says this is different from your possession limit. You’re encouraged to contact Game & Fish offices locally or at gf.nd.gov.
