JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Finance & Legal Committee heard a few more details on the proposed Buffalo City Park project Thursday night.
Before the committee was a request from the Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corporation for funding a market and financial feasibility assessment for Buffalo City Park.
Tourism Executive Director Searle Swedlund says the study was the next step in exploring the possible project in Jamestown.
Swedlund reports that in 2007, a similar study was conducted to explore a Louis L’Amour project. He says it would be a smart investment in order to keep the project moving forward.
It’s estimated the project could bring in upwards of $300,000 yearly and would be built using Legacy Funds.
Mayor Dwaine Heinrich says while the project only remains a possibility and isn’t a guarantee, the city should look to do what it can to explore its options and potential of Buffalo City Park.
Buchanan echoed his agreement of the study.
The committee voted to move forward with the study with Councilmember Dave Schloegel voting against.
