CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Carrington Redbirds picked up their first district win and first win of the season as they defeat the Nelson County Owls 6-5 Thursday evening in Independent League baseball. The Redbirds improve to 1-5 in district 4 and 1-6 overall, NC drops to 13-11 overall and 5-3 in district 4. The two teams met June 23rd in Tolna, and NC won 14-0 in five innings. Next up for the Redbirds will be on Friday evening for another district 4 match up with New Rockford in Carrington, KDAK will have the pregame about 5:20pm, first pitch 5:30pm.

The Carrington Redbirds Babe Ruth team lost 5-2 to the Lamoure A’s on Wednesday, July 15th in Lamoure. The Redbirds fall to 10-3 in district 6 and 12-5 overall, Lamoure improved to 28-7 overall and 11-1 in district 6. The Redbirds will be the number three seed in the district 6 tourney in Steele that runs Wednesday, July 22nd through Saturday, July 25th, Lamoure will be the two seed. The entire tournament can be heard on Thunder Country 98.3 FM and newsdakota.com. No. 3 Carrington will play No. 6 Linton/Wishek at approximately 2pm on Wednesday, it will be the third game of the day. Lamoure will play the seven seed at approximately 4:30pm on Wednesday, the A’s are the four time defending district 6 champions, finishing third at state last year and winning the state championship in 2018.
