VALLEY CITY,N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – There is an expression used in baseball, “Everyone hits”. Valley City took that to heart, and then some, as all nine starters had at least one hit and scored at least one run in a 18-0 four inning win over Ashley in Babe Ruth baseball Wednesday night at Charlie Brown Field.
The Kings had 11 hits, walked nine times and had seven hit batters. Seven different players drove in runs for Valley City.
Leading the way was Gavin Gerhardt with two hits, four runs scored and four rbi. He drove in three with a double in the third. Broden Muske had two hits and drove in three. The other seven starters all had one hit. Zach Sykora scored three times and had an rbi. Robert Fischer scored three times. Ethan Miller scored a run but was on base all four times. Max Mehus scored once and drove in two. Espen Kunze scored once and had an rbi. Carver Pederson scored twice and drove in three. And Isaiah Schuldheisz scored twice and drove in two.
Broden Muske tossed the four inning no-hitter. He walked one and struck out 8.
In game two versus Linton/Wishek, Gavin Gerhardt had four hits, including two doubles, drove in four and scored twice as the Kings downed the Rattlers 15-3.
Robert Fischer had three hits, scored twice and drove in two runs for the Kings who finished 19-1 overall and 14-0 in league play and won the league championship.
Espen Kunze drove in three with a bases loaded triple in the sixth for Valley City. Carver Pederson allowed three hits and one earned run in five innings of work for the win. He walked three and struck out three.
Valley City, along with LaMoure will be heading into the District 6 tournament next weekend as the two favorites.
