JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Six teams from three states converged on Jack Brown Stadium in Jamestown for the Phil Brown Classic.

Here are the results from the LaMoure and Jamestown games.

Game 1: LaMoure 1, Gillette (WY) 6

In the first game of the tournament, LaMoure faced a team that traveled over seven hours from Gillette, WY. The boys from Gillette came to play as their pitching staff stifled LaMoure to just one run.

LaMoure starter Jace Hanson ran into trouble in the 4th inning. Hanson two batters, walked three, including two times with the bases loaded and surrendered four runs before being pulled. The one bad inning was enough for Gillette starter David Fink. He kept the LaMoure lineup at bay allowing a single tally on six hits while striking out six batters.

LaMoure shortstop Corban Potts added the lone RBI of the game for LaMoure.

Game 2: LaMoure 2, Fergus Falls 0

LaMoure went 1-1 on the first day courtesy of a solid pitching performance from starter Rory Gentzkow in game two.

Gentzkow went the distance and shut out Fergus Falls. It wasn’t a clean day for Gentzkow as he had traffic on the base paths in each inning, but at the end of the day he stranded 10 Fergus Falls runners and shut them out.

It was another slow offensive performance for LaMoure mustering up only two runs, but this time it was enough. Weston Klein blooped an RBI single into center field in the 2nd and Corban Potts added his second RBI of the day in the 5th with a single.

Game 4: Jamestown 11, Dickinson 3 F/5

Jamestown used a couple of four run innings and cruised to a win over the Volunteers in the fourth game of Day 1.

Connor Hoyt and Tommy Falk drove in runs in the first on a single and double respectively. The Eagles added four in the second, highlighted by Falk’s second rbi double in as many innings. Falk wasn’t done. On the first pitch he saw in the fourth, Falk hit a towering home run over the right field ivy.

For the day, Falk had three hits and drove in three runs. Jeremy Williams and Ty Monson hd two hits and two runs scored each. Williams also drove in two.

Jakob Schempp picked up the win on the mound. The right hander allowed to hits and three earned runs in five innings. He did not walk a batter and struck out six.

Game 6: Jamestown 8, Thief River Falls 0 F/5

Jacoby Nold drove in two runs with a double in the first inning to get the scoring going. But that was it until the fifth when the Eagles scored six runs to wrap up day one with a 8-0 win.

Tommy Falk continued his hot hitting with two more hits and another rbi. Issac Mimong drove in two in the decisive fifth inning with a two run single.

Max Anderson tossed five shutout innings for the win. He yielded just two hits with two walks and four strike outs.

Jamestown, now 15-4 on the season, awaits to see who they will play next. The will play the winner of the LaMoure/Thief River Falls morning game.
