JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Every summer, ABATE of North Dakota typically holds motorcycle safety courses all over the state.
However, the coronavirus has limited them to just three sites this summer.
Lonnie Bertsch, Executive Director of ABATE of North Dakota, says they have been around since 1975. He says they teamed up with the state or North Dakota to help teach people to ride motorcycles safely at both the beginning and experienced level.
Because courses won’t be held in Jamestown, Bertsch says they’ll welcome anyone in North Dakota to the three sites they’ll be at this summer.
In addition to offering safety training and education, the program provides free safety materials, broadcasts safety messages in print and electronic media, and partners with public and private entities to make motorcycling safer for everyone.
The course covers a lot of basic information in a classroom setting and then puts riders on a motorcycle through safety courses.
