JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Today is the primaries in North Dakota.
This year has been different from the rest with all ballots being cast through mail-in only. In late March, Governor Doug Burgum signed an executive order allowing Counties to switch from normal polling locations to mail ballot only. Almost all counties in North Dakota will be going vote by mail for this election. This decision was made to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
As of Tuesday morning, Stutsman County Auditor Nicole Meland reports that they have received 5,911 applications and 4,353 ballots. Ballot numbers are already up compared to the 2018 primary, when a total of 3,528 ballots were cast.
Positions up for election in the state include U.S. House, North Dakota Superintendent of Public Instruction, Commissioner of Insurance, Treasurer, Governor, Lt. Governor, Public Service Commission, and supreme court.
Jamestown residents will be voting on City Council members, City Park Board members, and School Board members.
Final results will be available once canvassed at NewsDakota.com.
