JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A small group of avid kite flyers wanted to share their love of the hobby with the community.
What it has become today is one of the premier kite flying events in the United States.
Jamestown Kite Fest will be held June 12th through the 14th at Meidinger Field and feature a variety of things to see and do.
Wings on Strings Club member Mike Gee says the event draws a crowd from all over the U.S, attracting kite enthusiasts from across the country and Canada.
Club member Chris Dodson says they’ve made some adjustments as well to practice social distance while enjoying the event.
The event is free and there are no requirements to participate. Gee says just bring yourself, your favorite kite, and have fun.
Dodson says those who have never participated in a kite festival before are in for a treat, with a constantly changing show and display of kites, it’s never the same show twice.
Some members of the professional kiteflying group 180 Go will be on hand as well this year. Other event features include learning kite flying from the pros, inflatable air games, concessions, music, door prizes, kids kite building and more.
