NEW ROCKFORD, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Bo Belquist led off the bottom of the seventh inning with a single, then stole second base, took third on a pass ball and scored on a dropped strike three throw to first and scored the winning run on Friday night in Independent 16-19 year-old summer league baseball, winning 5-4. The Blacksox of Sheyenne/New Rockford improve to 1-0 in District 4, Carrington Redbirds drop to 0-1.
The Blacksox were down 4-1 after five in a half innings, but scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to make the score 4-4. Colter Soderholm scored two runs and was 1-for-3 at the plate for SNR. Clean-up batter for the Redbirds, Austin Trelstad had two singles and two RBI, Lucas Hendrickson also had two singles and an RBI. Soderholm was the winning pitcher, he worked two innings in relief of Alex Harrison who worked five. Seth Nelson was the third pitcher used for Carrington and suffered the loss. Lucas Hendrickson started and worked three innings and Ethan Buskness worked two and a third.
