BISMARCK, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – District 24 State Senator Larry Robinson, Valley City, was recently recognized by the North Dakota Democratic NPL with the Governor’s Legacy of Leadership Award. The award is named in honor of former Governor’s Art Link, William Guy, and George Sinner. Robinson has served in the North Dakota Senate for over 30 years, first elected in 1988. Robinson serves as Executive Director of the Valley City State University Foundation. He has been on the Administrative Staff of VCSU since 1975.
Kylee McKee, Executive Director of the Democratic NPL, noted that Robinson has been incredibly active in his community and state. Robinson and his wife Mary Lee, are members of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Robinson is a member of the Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, VCSU’s V-500 and Century Club, Barnes County Wildlife Federation, North Dakota State Drug Court Advisory Committee, Elks, Eagles, Knights of Columbus. McKee further stated, “Senator Robinson has served this district and his state tirelessly going above and beyond as a State Senator.”
In the Senate, Robinson is the senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee. During the interim, he serves on the Water Topics Committee, the Budget Section, Information Technology Committee, Higher Education Funding Committee and the Higher Education Funding Formula Committee.
Robinson is a graduate of VCSU with a B.S. Degree in Education. He also received his M.S. Degree in Educational Administration from North Dakota State University. Originally form Dawson, North Dakota, Robinson grew up on a family farm. Prior to returning to VCSU in 1975, the Robinsons were employed by the Warwick, N.D. public schools.
The Robinsons have two grown sons and three grandsons.
