Dennis “Denny” Michael Maresh, 72, Valley City, ND passed away peacefully Monday, June 1, 2020 surrounded by his family at home.
Dennis was born to Katie and Gaylyn Maresh on July 11, 1947. Dennis graduated from VCHS in 1965 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. He served in Vietnam in the communications section from 1967-1969. Dennis married Eileen Lipke December 19, 1969. After being discharged from the Marines, Dennis attended Valley City State College and began his 30+ year career with the Peavey Company. Upon retirement from the Peavey Company, he decided he needed to keep busy. He went to work as a driver for Stoudt Ross Ford and the Veteran’s Service Office in Barnes County. He proudly served many veterans transporting them to their clinic appointments to the VA Hospitals in Fargo and Minneapolis. There were days he made multiple trips back and forth to Fargo.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eileen. His daughters, Peggy (Brian) Ward, Hunter, ND, Nancy (Al) Melo, Colorado Springs, CO, Susan Lloyd, Valley City, Paula (Bill) Hill, Green Bay, WI. Denny’s 10 grandchildren, Carley, Whitney, Hunter, Cacie, Courtney, Cayden, Brinkley, Bailee, Heath and Ella, who were his pride and joy. Denny’s siblings, Robert “Swampy” (Carrie) Maresh, Mary Linn (Scott) Tangen, Pam Swenson, Debbie (Wayne) Eggert, and Connie Maresh, brother-in-law, Mike Rasmussen and numerous nieces and nephews. He loved to attend his grandchildren’s school and sporting events and was an avid HI-Liner, VCSU Viking, Harrison Panthers, Northern Cass Jaguar, and UJ Jimmies fan!!
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Bonnie; his brother-in-law, Terry Swenson; and an infant niece and nephew.
There will be a visitation on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lerud Mathias Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 10th, 2020 at 2:00 at the Eagles Club in Valley City. Dennis will be buried at the National Veteran’s Cemetery in Fargo. We ask that everyone please remember to follow social distancing guidelines.
Per Denny’s request memorials can be made to the Sanborn Veteran’s Park or the National Veteran’s Cemetery in Fargo or Mandan.
