ELLENDALE, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Dickey County remained spotless of COVID-19 until the calendar flipped to June.
The Dickey County Health District (DCHD) posted to Facebook confirming a positive case found in Dickey County on Monday, June 1st.
“We as community members have an important job to do in response to COVID-19. That response is to be conscious about the decisions we make,” the Dickey County Health District’s Facebook post read. “For the decisions we make will not just affect us personally. Those decisions affect our family, friends, co-workers, and fellow community members.”
The post went on to clarify the case will be counted towards tomorrow’s reports.
As of 11 am on Monday, North Dakota had 2,625 confirmed cases with 2,078 cases making a full recovery.
Despite the first case of COVID-19 popping up in Dickey County, the DCHD reminded the public there is no need for panic in a different Facebook post.
“Anyone who is determined to be a CLOSE CONTACT of a positive case will be contacted by public health officials. You do not need to worry or be afraid that you may have been a contact. You will be called by a public health official if you are a contact,” said the DCHD Facebook page.
One last reminder from the DCHD Facebook page: “Do NOT call local health care providers. They will call you.”
