VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Childhood vaccinations have plummeted after the COVID-19 pandemic was declared, and hence many children are now vulnerable to preventable diseases. We do have vaccines to protect children and teens against 16 different diseases and it is important that children stay on schedule in obtaining these vaccinations.
City County Health District, Sanford Health and Essentia are all providing childhood immunizations and encourage parents to bring their children in. Call ahead to check what vaccination is needed and to schedule your visit.
The decrease in immunizations in North Dakota and across the U.S. is significant and concerning because of the potential for outbreaks. We certainly do not want an outbreak of whooping cough and measles (which are very contagious) to complicate the pandemic that we are fighting.
Medical offices are among the safest places any of us can be right now because of the extensive measures they are taking to prevent the spread of COVID-19, so do not be afraid to bring your children in for vaccinations.
It could be a considerable length of time before a vaccine is found to prevent COVID-19 therefore, it is important to go in now for childhood vaccinations-to stay on schedule. Protecting our children is vital.
