OAKES, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The good news is Oakes High School’s graduation ceremony will proceed as scheduled.

The bad news is not everyone can attend according to Oakes Public School (OPS) Superintendent Kraig Steinhoff.

Some other rules will that will be implemented are seating will be organized by family, families will be spaced six feet apart to adhere to the state’s guidelines and arrival and departure times will be staggered to avoid mass group gatherings. Steinhoff and OPS also advised against “members of the vulnerable population and young children” attending the ceremony.

It won’t be a typical ceremony, compared to years in the past, but Stienhoff said everyone at the school is doing their best to make it as normal as possible.

For those who can’t attend graduation the ceremony “will be live streamed on our Pixellot camera system. Similar to how we were doing sporting events earlier this year,” said Steinhoff.

The ceremony is still scheduled for Sunday, May 24 at 2 P.M in Oakes High School’s South Gymnasium according to the OPS’ Activity Calendar.
