JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Behind closed doors, the National Buffalo Museum continues to work on some exciting projects for the near future.
Due to the pandemic, the museum is currently closed to the public. However, Executive Director Ilana Xinos and Assistant Director/Curator of Collections Rachel Johnson remain hard at work preparing some exciting projects.
Xinos says there are some online experiences right now that everyone can check out. The first of which is a program called “Bison After Breakfast.”
Xinos says the program is held every other Thursday starting at 10 AM. The link to those discussions can be found on their website or Facebook page.
Johnson says the museum was also selected by Google Arts & Culture to represent North Dakota through a virtual exhibit.
The museum also has an online store with more than 300 products including real bison meat. Xinos says sales helps the non-profit operate.
The museum was also selected to receive a $36,000 grant from the State Historical Society that Johnson says will help maintain their collections at the museum.
Xinos also stated that their live herd has had five babies this spring. Photos can be found on their Facebook page.
Those who are interested in learning more about these projects can visit buffalomuseum.com or like them on Facebook at National Buffalo Museum.
