VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – In a split decision, the Valley City Commission approved of hiring Gwen Crawford to be the next city administrator of Valley City.
But, City Commissioner Mike Bishop had an issue with the final salary offered to Crawford. He told the city commission he thought the starting salary was suppose to be $80,000 instead of $82,000 agreed upon in the negotiating process.
City Attorney Carl Martineck and Mayor Dave Carlsrud said they believed they had the authority to add another $1,600 dollars to finalize the contract.
The motion to approve the contract for Crawford passed on a 3 to 2 vote with commissioners Mike Bishop and Jeff Erickson voting against the motion.
